Design

Good design grows. I liken it to a seed put in the right place at the right time.  It takes on a life of its own and grows according to its needs and responses to the environmental factors around it.

Good design is simple and comfortable. If something is designed right it may not even be noticed -but it does work.

Good design unfolds. If design works the people needing the design are empowered and reawaken the designer in themselves taking on the ever unfolding and growing.

I believe that everybody is a designer. As human beings we have a desire to design. To design is to interact fully and consciously with the world around us; noticing, changing, adapting..........

I am a trained Primary school teacher who specializes in experiential learning, science and outdoor education. I have a Permaculture Design Certificate and a level three Certificate in Organic Agriculture through Telford. More importantly I have had years of experience playing and designing in my life and in  communities all around the beautiful Eastern Bay of Plenty.

I can work with you to design events, resources or spaces. I have worked with all sectors of the community

I have designed;
-a minimum input farm and garden to meet most of our families needs.
-collaborative events with multi agency activities.
-school camp and trip activities that engage children in nature and maximize learning with strong links to the curriculum.
-resources for teachers and students participating in self directed science inquiry.
-early childhood environments that provide multiple opportunities for multi sensory experiental play/design.
-a 'Green Screening' film network of like minded people. Although I have not been coordinating this for years it has been nurtured and grown by an amazing friend. It is still 'alive' and works as a great networking tool in our region.
-community builds where the community designs plans and creates their own spaces.
-resources to help engage children in their own design for wild gardeners.
-workshops to up-skill people (young adults, teachers, adults, children and pre-schoolers) on garden design, cob, charcoal, seed saving, living willow, no-dig gardens .... using natural resources.
Seaweek activities.
This event is now run over two days it was so popular.
It is still running after 7 years.
